Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn is a very famous actress and fashion role model. She is mostly known for her role as Holly Golightly in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s and her leading role in the musical My Fair Lady. Ever since I watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s I have admired Audrey Hepburn not only because of her talent as an actress but also for her effect on the world.

Audrey trained in ballet, worked as a model, and eventually pursued singing and acting. She gained stardom for her role in the 1951 Broadway play Gigi and thrived from then on. She earned many awards including the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards. Perhaps what I find most admirable about Hepburn is that after her acting career she became the Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF. Since she had endured the German occupation as a child, she felt the obligation to help children in need around the world.

I commend Audrey Hepburn for her commitment to helping people. She used her popularity and success to benefit others. A UN photographer spoke of Audrey’s connection to children in third world countries and said, “Other people had a certain amount of hesitation, but she would just grab them. Children would just come up to hold her hand, touch her.” Audrey Hepburn is celebrity that had a true dedication to help the less fortunate in the world; something I find rather rare in today’s celebrities.

  1. I did something similar. Princess Diana was the same way, she used her popularity to help many charities!

  4. I think it's pretty neat of how she helped children and how she interacted with them, especially letting them hold her hand. Most famous people nowadays won't people near them.
