The scene that was most memorable was Rock Avalanche. Just the fact of knowing what had happened in the past, made this such a crazy mission. Seeing the reactions of the men after a few of them had been wounded was just unimaginable. On top of that, having so much fire directed toward them, without being in a good position is insane.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who thinks war is all fun and games. Their are so many people like this that play war video games all day long, claiming all they want is to fight. These kind of people really need to see what war is really like.
I completely agree that people like that should watch a documentary like this!
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely a great point about how Restrepo was the middle finger, and I liked how you brought that up. It showed how the "scared" American soldiers were able to go in and take a base within the enemies lines. Great Point.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that certain people need to watch this. During the film i thought to myself about there's restart or respawn area which people who play war games are so to. There's no second chance in reality.
ReplyDeleteI remember in The Things They Carried O'Brien describes war as being both beautiful and ugly, or both good and bad. In a lot of ways I think the movie catches that feeling. You see people having fun but you also see the horrors of it which, as you said, shows that war isn't all fun and games but also a large portion of tragedy.
ReplyDeleteI really like the attitude you have here. You made a good point and you're right; its important for soldiers to be able to have fun with what they are doing. With OP Restrepo, they wanted it to upset the Taliban and it truly was a giant middle finger to them.
